It’s said that God places people where they need to be. And so it is with Mrs. Denise Whiteurst Felton who has been serving as the Computer Literacy Instructor for Sage Hawk since 2018. She is one of the most amazing people I have ever met. Denise grew up in South Chicago, and attended Roosevelt University, having majored in Business and Information Science (1987-91). She currently lives in Tulsa, Oklahoma with her husband, Leo whom I have also had the pleasure of meeting at last year’s Sage Hawk graduation. Denise is a devout Christian; has a profound love of Christ, and demonstrates it every day. She is a selfless giver, has a gentle demeanor, and is extremely professional, reliable, dependable and capable in her work. She is the author of the 2017 book, “The Assignment: Revelations from the Book of Ruth”. Her resume is impressive. From 1984-87, she was the Illinois Chairman of the Concerned Women for America (CWA) where she served throughout her home state to educate (predominantly) women about family-related issues and legislation.

Among her experience was that of a corporate trainer at Webco Industries, a multi-state steel-manufacturing company where she facilitated company-wide conversion and upgrades of legacy versions of Microsoft Office, was a SharePoint trainer and worked as a Help Desk representative aiding their IT staff. She has also served as a technical writer for proprietary software used by Walmart’s Logistics and Transportation Division. Today, she is a part of the Sage Hawk team where she teaches at the OSU Osage Extension Office in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. We are blessed to have her.
